New Kids on the Block Return

New Kids on the BlockThe New Kids on the Block are back and they have a new website at www.nkotb.com to prove it. The website contains a video about the band's famous years as stars. It also has a signup form where you can enter your email address to receive updates.

People says the band sold 50 million albums in the early 90s. People says the band is getting back together. The singers are no longer kids - they are now in their late 30s.
The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the early '90s, selling more than 50 million albums, became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994.

Eighteen years later, they're still "Hangin' Tough." The oldest "Kid," Jonathan Knight, now a real estate developer, will turn 40 later this year. Since the band's demise, former members Donnie Wahlberg, 38, and Joey McIntyre, 35, have seen acting success, while Danny Wood, 38, has worked as a music producer and Knight's brother, Jordan, 37, has continued to record.
If you are eager to look back on some of the New Kids' music YouTube has thousands of clips.

Alisa Apps Censored by YouTube

Singer Alisa Apps uploaaded her the music video for her song "Confusion" and it wasn't long before it was flagged and then censored with an 18+ rating. On her website she railed against the censorship of her video.
My video was flagged on Youtube and I think the major record labels are in on it! Within a matter of 8 hrs I received 50k views. #1 viewed today in England and #3 viewed in the world today (which is beyond outstanding and a very large amount in such a quick time). It was flagged & censored with an 18 + viewer needed...which means it was pulled from the Youtube charts ..the charts are crucial to Youtube success!! This censorship devastates the ultimate viewership I would have gotten on this video!!!!
Here's an edited version of "Confusion" that is now on YouTube.

  • From Celtic Woman to The High Kings

The High KingsThe people behind the popular Celtic Woman have launched an album with male singers. The group is called The High Kings. The High Kings takes some of the classic ballad repertoire from the past and mix them with new and exciting modern songs in the folk idiom. The four-man singing group includes Finbarr Clancy, Martin Furey, Brian Dunphy, and Darren Holden.
The Irish music reflects a wide range of moods, from the rousing "Rocky Road to Dublin" to the haunting strains of "The Parting Glass" to the irresistible sing-along cheerfulness of "The Wild Rover."
Is this going to take off like the Celtic Woman music did? On YouTube there are numerous results for Celtic Woman but no results for The High Kings as of yet. It may too early as the album was just released.

Labels Drop Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks

McPhee January 2008Us Magazine is reporting that American Idols Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks have been dropped by their record labels.
Katharine McPhee - whose self-titled disc debuted at No. 2 (which hasn't gone gold yet despite being released nearly a year ago) - has been dropped by her label, a rep for RCA has confirmed to Usmagazine.com.

Two days before: Taylor Hicks - who beat out McPhee on season five - was dropped by his label, J Records.

Late last year, ex-champ Ruben Studdard of season 2 also exited his contract with J Records.

    What gives?

"I think the industry has seen that unless these artists can churn out strong enough original material, they don't really have that much traction once we don't see them on television week after week singing songs we already know and love," Rollingstone.com editor Caryn Ganz tells Usmagazine.com.
What happened to the McPhever? Katharine McPhee seemed to be very popular and has some live performances that were all over YouTube so it is hard to believe she won't be picked up by another label. Still, it really isn't good news for either of them.
