Elton John performed his 200th performance of "The Red Piano" on June 21st at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Critics have praised the "The Red Piano" since it debuted at the Colosseum in February of 2004. The L.A. Times called it "A triumphant step forward" and USA Today calls Elton's show, "Eye-popping, jaw-dropping...Elton John is Still Standing as one of pop's indestructible talents."
"People from virtually every major country have traveled to Caesars to see Elton John's 'The Red Piano,' and long after the standing ovations have ended, they leave us with treasured memories of one of the great performer/songwriters of this or any era," said Gary Selesner, president of the famed resort. "We are deeply grateful to Elton and his talented band for giving so much joy to hundreds of thousands of Caesars Palace guests."
Elton John's "The Red Piano" will return to Caesars Palace for additional engagements, starting on July 23rd and then again beginning Oct. 22nd of this year. Elton John is also taking his red piano to Europe starting this November.
The Rolling Stone interviewed Billy Joel and asked him about his song, "Christmas in Fallujah." Billy Joel told them that the song is just meant to be about a soldier.
What inspired you to write Christmas in Fallujah?
I guess just the cumulative effect of this war. We've been there longer than World War II. I've been getting mail from service people over there, and with the holidays coming on made this thing just popped out.

Do you think it's fair to call it a protest song or an anti-war song?
I think it's a song about a soldier, about a marine. People can take it anyway they want. I don't get up on a soapbox and do political messages. I believe in talking about the human being, and the conditions humans find themselves in.
Many news articles call it an anti-war song. It certainly sounds like one but it is also about U.S. troops facing yet another Christmas in Iraq. Billy Joel's song is performed by Cass Dillon. Proceeds from the sale of the the song in iTunes benefit Homes for our Troops.
Here's the video clip.
Britney Spears is working on a new single. It's a ballad. You can hear the song here on PerezHilton.com. Ryan Seacrest also mentioned the song on his radio show. This sounds like a song that was recorded in the studio but it does not sound like the final version of the song. It is not a new dance track - like Britney fans have been hoping for - but it sounds good enough to get Britney radio play again and likely back in the Top 40.
Here are the lyrics.
Everyday, I'm in a daze
Looking for that someone
And everyday, I sit and kneel and pray
Oh, sweet love, can I get some?
So why do you desert me, baby boy?
I need your love right now!
And if you desert me, baby boy
Don't you leave me in your crowd
Talking
Hey baby, what time you gonna get home?
Oh, really?
[Sigh]
Alright, well, I'll see you later, then
Oh, wait
Would you mind getting some...
Yeah, when you come home
Yeah, that's it
I love you too
Bye
[Singing again]
Some day when you see my face
You will think that you have won
And some day when it's all away
Our love just begun
So why did you desert me, baby boy?
I thought that you, you were the one
So if you preferred the other one
She won't bring you the sun(son)
